Eczema

Eczema or dermatitis is a (chronic) inflammation of the skin. Eczema is marked by itchy skin and crusty skin lesions. It is not known what exactly causes Eczema but an over-active immune system may at least be part of the cause.

Huntington's

Huntington's disease is a genetic neurodegenerative disorder, marked by preferential degeneration of neurons in the basal ganglia (caudate and putamen) and accompanied by motor deficits, cognitive impairment and psychiatric symptoms.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is a form of brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation during the birth process. It can cause sensorimotor and cognitive impairments including physical and intellectual disability.

MDMA intoxication

Although not exactly a disease, MDMA intoxication occurs after ingesting MDMA and typically comes with dysphoria, agitation or insomnia.

MDMA interferes with the clearance of serotonin, dopamine and adrenalin/epinephrin from the brain, causing their levels to rise and ultimately leads to the serotonin syndrome.

Migraine

Migraine is a chronic neurological disorder that is mostly characterized by severe headaches and aura.

Morphine is an opioid drug used to treat acute and chronic pain.

Tourette's

Tourette's Syndrome is a neuropsychiatric disorder that is marked by a collection of motor- and vocal tics. Tourette's is inherited and is believed to result from dysfunctional cortical and subcortical regions in the brain.

Malaria

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodia parasitic protozoa. This disease is transmitted by a mosquito bite with a large variety of symptoms like fever, headache and seizures. It can cause neurological problems and death. For those people who survive Malaria infection, the chances to have neurological complications and cognitive impairments are high.

Klinefelter Syndrome

Klinefelter Syndrome is a disorder resulting from an extra copy of the X chromosome in males. Men with Klinefelter Syndrome are sterile and typically have reduced muscle strength, less body hair and smaller genitals and increased height, breast formation and sometimes reduced linguistic skills.

AIDS

The Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV/AIDS attacks cells of the immune system making the body more susceptible to infections and tumors. As a result, patients often suffer from nausea, loss of appetite, intractable pain and other secondary symptoms often associated with cancer (cachexia/wasting syndrome).
